Audit Services
Highest Level of Assurance
An audit is the highest level of assurance. It involves an independent accountant carefully reviewing your financial statements to determine whether they are accurate and comply with accepted accounting standards.
Audits are often required by banks, grant funders, regulatory agencies, or boards of directors to provide confidence that your financial information can be trusted.
At Langdon & Company, our audits are led by partner-involved teams who take time to understand your operations. We prioritize efficiency, reduce disruption, and deliver value beyond the audit report itself.
Our audit services include:
- Financial Statement Audits
- Government (Yellow Book) Audits
- Single Audits (OMB Uniform Guidance)
- Program-Specific Audits
- Financial Related Audits for HHS Awards in Accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) for Commercial Organizations
- Cost Certification Audits
Attestation Services
Right-Sized Assurance
Not every situation calls for a full audit. Our other attestation services provide varying levels of assurance through reviews, compilations, or customized procedures, helping you meet requirements or gain insights where an audit isn’t necessary.
Key service types include:
- Review – A review provides limited assurance that your financial statements are free of material misstatements. It’s less in-depth than an audit, but more than a compilation. Accountants use analytical procedures and inquiries rather than detailed testing.
When it’s used: Often requested by lenders, boards of directors, or internal management when full audits aren’t required but some level of assurance is still needed.
- Compilation – A compilation involves assembling your financial data into formal financial statements without verifying its accuracy. The accountant does not express any assurance—it’s simply a presentation of the numbers you provide.
When it’s used: Typically for internal use, early-stage businesses, or when there’s no requirement for assurance, but stakeholders still want financial statements in a professional format.
- Agreed-Upon Procedures (AUP) – An Agreed-Upon Procedures (AUP) engagement is highly customizable. You define the specific areas you’d like tested—such as verifying grant spending, checking certain transactions, or reviewing internal controls—and the accountant performs those procedures and reports the factual findings, without drawing conclusions.
When it’s used: Ideal for grant compliance, internal investigations, due diligence, or situations where a full audit or review isn’t needed—but focused testing is.
